Cory Forman of Cohen Forman Barone was honored to have been chosen to speak at the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (“AILA”) symposium on criminal and immigration law in Orlando, FL. On December 8, 2016, Cory addressed the crowd of over 200 attorneys on issues affecting those seeking to live and work in the United States who have been convicted of criminal offenses.
As part of the presentation, Cory discussed Cohen Forman Barone’s long time work in the fields of criminal and immigration law and how the two areas intersect. The presentation focused on waivers of criminal inadmissibility, counseling non-citizen clients on the immigration consequences that arise in a criminal case, and effectively vacating prior based on ineffective assistance of counsel.
The invite was not only an honor for the firm, but also a wonderful platform to further educate criminal and immigration attorneys on the importance of working together in the representation of non-citizen defendants in criminal cases and immigration removal proceedings.
